It only takes a few short minutes to send an email or a text, yet it is still (for me at least), something that challenges me. I find myself meditating on an email, but not sending it, or doing other little chores to avoid it. We are a culture of instant-gratification-communication, yet the easier it gets, the harder it seems to engage with the communication. So take ten minutes- 5 even- to write a letter to your granddaughter. Make a weird little drawing at the bottom. Just say hi. Just do a little tiny thing, the value in it is the 5-10 minutes you stopped whatever else you were doing and engaged with this letter, this manifestation of love.
